Pick the school, and the dates arrive
Every state and independent school in England is in Kinmeadow, from the Department for Education’s own register of schools, with a growing number in Wales. Search by name or postcode, pick your child’s, and say which child it is for. From then on the school’s calendar is on yours: the first and last day of each term, half-terms, INSET days, and the Christmas, Easter and summer holidays.

Where the dates come from
Schools publish their term dates on their own websites, usually as a PDF. Kinmeadow reads what the school has published, compiles the dates, and tells you so: you will see “12 dates, compiled from the school’s published calendar” and the page they came from. If a school’s website cannot be read, it says that too. Nothing is ever guessed at.

In their colour, beside everything else
Each date is a whole day on the family calendar, colour-coded by child, so Alfie’s INSET day and Mia’s last day of term sit beside the dentist and the football. Filter the calendar to school and holidays when that is the question, and choose what shows per child: term dates, INSET days, holidays, or all of it.

What Meadow does with them
Once the school’s dates are on the calendar, the assistant knows them like anything else on it. The evening briefing before an INSET day says there is no school tomorrow. Ask “when is half term?” or “is Friday an INSET day?” and it answers from the school’s own dates. Plan the half-term week and it will suggest what to cook and build the shopping list for it.

Is my child’s school in it?
If it is a state or independent school in England, yes: the list comes from the Department for Education’s register. A growing number of schools in Wales are there too. Pick the school, choose which child it is for, and the dates arrive on the calendar in their colour.

What if the school changes a date?
The dates are checked again each term against what the school has published, and the calendar is updated for every family at that school. You can see when they were last compiled and the page they came from.
Can I have two children at two schools?
Yes. Each child has their own school, and each school’s dates show in that child’s colour, so a different INSET day at each school is two entries on two days, not one confusing one.
Can I turn some of it off?
Yes, per child: term dates, INSET days and holidays each have their own switch. Some families only want the INSET days, because those are the ones that catch you out.
