Chat that nobody else can read
One thread for the house, a direct message to one person, or a group you name. All of it end-to-end encrypted: messages are locked on your phone and unlocked on theirs, and nobody in between can read them, including us. A twelve-word recovery phrase, shown once at setup, is what brings your history back on a new phone. Chat is part of Pro.

Connect the households
Your house, your parents’ house, your sister’s. Each keeps its own Kinmeadow, and a parent in each can connect them with a code. From then on everybody can message anyone across the connected houses, in pairs or in groups. Invite the others to an event, and the photos from it land in an album for everyone who was there. Part of Pro, on both sides. A connection is between two houses only, never passed on to a third.

A tree children can follow
Across connected houses the family tree is one tree, so a child can see how Nana, Uncle Tom and the cousins fit together, with everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries on the calendar. And there is room to remember the people who are no longer here, with photos and a few words from anyone who wants to add them. The tree is free; memorials are part of Pro.

What stays in your house
A connection shares chat, events you invite the other house to, photos you choose, the tree, special dates and wishlists. It never shares your files, your cars and renewals, your records, your meals, your chores and lists, or your briefing. Those belong to the house that made them, and there is no setting that changes it.

About chat and the wider family
Can my parents use it from their own house?
Yes. They set up Kinmeadow for their household, and a parent in each house connects the two with a code. Both houses need Pro. After that you can message each other, invite each other to events and share the photos from them, and see one family tree and each other’s wishlists.
Can you read our messages?
No. Chat is end-to-end encrypted, so messages are readable only on the phones of the people in the conversation. We know who is in a conversation and when a message was sent, and nothing about what it says. That applies to children’s messages too: there is no parent view and no way for us to open one.
What is the recovery phrase for?
Getting your messages back on a new phone if you have no other signed-in device. It is twelve words, shown once when you set chat up. Keep it somewhere safe; without it and without another device, the history cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
What does a connection share, and what does it not?
It shares chat, events you invite the other house to, photos you choose, the family tree, special dates and wishlists. It never shares your files, your cars and renewals, your records, your meals, your chores and lists, or your briefing. There is no setting that changes that.
If I connect to my parents, can my sister see us too?
Only if she connects to you as well. A connection is between two houses and is never passed on to a third, so connecting to your parents shares nothing with anyone they are connected to.
How do photos work across houses?
Every photo has an audience. By default it is private to you; you can share it with your house, or with everyone who was at the event it belongs to, which can include the other house. Nothing crosses a connection unless you shared it.
Can everyone see my wishlist?
Everyone in your house, and across a connection everyone in theirs, so Nana can see what the cousins would like. When someone claims a present it is marked as taken for everybody except the person it is for.

The family tree and special dates are in Basic. Chat, photos, wishlists, memorials and connecting to other households are part of Pro.
